House Arrest Trailer Review: Netflix’s New Film Starring Ali Fazal And Shriya Pilgaonkar, Quirky Or Absurd?
Streaming giant, Netflix put out the trailer for their latest Indian original film, House Arrest recently. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh and Samit Basu, the film seems like a comedy drama starring Ali Fazal, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Jim Sarbh. Here’s the trailer  –

So far, Netflix has had a great run when it comes to their Indian originals. Whether it was the bigger shows like Sacred Games or Bard of Blood or smaller originals like Upstarts or Love Per Square Foot, they have managed to create content that makes a mark. Is House Arrest another one of the originals that we are going to binge and fall in love with?

The premise of the film is interesting and not done before. Ali Fazal plays a man who hates going out. He seems to have JOMO (The Joy Of Missing Out). No, he isn’t someone who goes out rarely. He is someone who doesn’t go out at all, no matter what the circumstance is, much to the dismay of his best friend, played Jim Sarbh.

Soon enough, his life gets pretty interesting even though he is under self-inflicted House Arrest. His friend leaves behind a package which seems to carry a corpse, he is visited by a journalist (Shriya Pilgaonkar) who is intrigued and wants to understand him better. What makes Ali such an introvert and does he have a problem at hand?

The trailer has just the right amount of quirk and fun, without bordering on becoming unbelievable or gimmick-y. However, the production value of the film does seem like it is lesser than other Netflix films. Will House Arrest manage to strike a chord with viewers? Or is it a hit-and-miss?

We will know on November 15th, when it premieres on Netflix.
